In November 2009 we took a Hippo Water Roller filled with 90 Litres (24 gallons) of water and dropped it from a height of 2.2 meters (7 feet) onto a solid concrete floor.
The images above were taken from two different angles.
Damage to the drum was minimal:
- A small crack appeared at the top of the drum
- The flat surface developed a bulge
- The screw cap popped off releasing the pressure and could still be screwed back onto the drum afterwards
Conclusion:
Despite a full roller falling from an unusual height of 2.2 meters (7 feet) the weight of 90kg (200 pounds) smashing into a solid concrete floor caused minimal damage.
