Bloem Water is a Water Board in South Africa that is responsible to provide water services to the Southern and central areas of the Free State province.
Earlier in 2012, Bloem Water distributed 100 water rollers at the Moroto, Mariasdal, Long Ridge and Rakhoe Villages.
As a result Bloem Water received urgent requests from other villages for Hippo water rollers. The Rietfontein handover is in response to these requests.
The CEO of Bloem Water, Dr. Bennie Malakoane, discovered the Hippo water roller in March 2012 at the World Water Forum in France. He was delighted to find this South African invention at an international exhibition.
The majority of houses in Bloem Water’s jurisdiction have rain water tanks, however it simply means nothing when there is no rain to fill those tanks.
Bloem Water identified the Hippo water roller as an appropriate technology that immediately improves access to water.
