The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy in Pretoria has embarked on the ‘2017 Year of Giving’ and is in the process of executing projects to South African communities.

Earlier this year the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2017 as the Year of Giving in the UAE.

South Africans will benefit by receiving better healthcare services in public hospitals; students will have access to a conducive learning environment, people in the rural areas will be able to collect clean drinking water in safe and hygienic manner, and thousands of poor and needy families will receive food hampers which can sustain them during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

500 Hippo Rollers are to be distributed in rural communities who are most affected by water restrictions.

The Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan planted the seed of the spirit of giving many years ago.

Choosing 2017 as the Year of Giving reflects the UAE’s humanitarian approach since its establishment and enhances the country’s standing globally as one of the forerunners in providing aid around the world.

The initiative will run for the entire year of 2017 and beyond.
