The empowering people. Network of the Siemens Stiftung held a workshop between 6th and 9th November 2017 for growing social enterprises in Amsterdam to further their training in the field of organisational development.

Hippo Roller’s Executive Director, Grant Gibbs was amongst the 50 participants from 20 countries, including Argentina, China, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Peru, Philippines, South Africa, Uganda, UK, Uruguay and the US.

The focus of the workshop was on organizational development for small and growing social enterprises.

“Startups usually face two challenges at the same time: expanding their sales and markets and establishing an internal organization for their growth. They often do not have the tools to develop the right team, structures and culture.” – empowering people. Network

Participants learned to apply best practices and new methods as well as using them for their individual challenges. They were taught future-oriented approaches for a professional and yet flexible organization with lean structures, dynamic processes and well-coordinated teams.

They debated various strategies in open space sessions such as storytelling and leadership, while also discussing their most pressing organisation development issues and needs.
