In Mzimba Boma, Malawi, Luka and his family face the daily challenge of collecting water from a borehole or river, located 3 to 6 kilometers away. The arduous trips, often made multiple times a day, are physically demanding and time-consuming.

Moved by their struggle, Norman, Luka’s employer, decided to help. He purchased a Hippo Roller—a 90-liter water transport device—and gifted it to Luka’s family.

“The purpose is to reduce the strain and the number of trips needed to collect water,” Norman explained.

The gift has been life-changing. The Hippo Roller allows Luka’s family to collect and transport enough water to last two days in a single trip. It has eased their burden and become a source of excitement in the village, where it is now a topic of much discussion.

“They have received this gift with absolute delight, the talk of the village now.” Norman told us.

Norman’s generosity highlights the impact of small yet thoughtful acts in addressing everyday hardships and improving lives.

If you’d like to help someone in need, like Norman did, consider donating or purchasing a Hippo Roller. Visit www.hipporoller.org to learn more or get in touch.

Together, we can ease the burden of water collection for families in need.
