Heleen Temple, a resident of Pretoria, South Africa, has sought to make a remarkable difference in the life of her domestic worker, Esther, and her family who live in Bronkhorstspruit.
Esther’s daily struggle to fetch water and cart it for about a quarter kilometer from a distant well concerned Heleen thus she took it upon herself to find a method to alleviate this burden and got in contact with us to procure our innovative water transportation device, the Hippo Roller, for Esther and her family.
Heleen’s gesture to sponsor the Hippo Roller for Esther’s household exemplifies the spirit of community and solidarity and how a small act of kindness can be of vital importance in easing the daily challenges faced by those around her.
Upon receiving the Hippo Roller, Esther’s delight was palpable. No longer confined to multiple trips to fetch water, Esther’s family found joy with the Hippo Roller, each member eager to contribute to the task at hand.
Esther is so pleased. She says she never fetches water anymore because the family all want to go and fetch water and ‘walk the Hippo,”
Heleen and Esther’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the power of compassion and empathy to effect positive change in the lives of those around us.
In a world often characterized by division and discord, Heleen’s selfless act shines as a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards a more connected and caring society.
